Feast

My goodness, what a feast last night! We went up the mountain to the Konoba Žiža, and were treated to an incredible dinner.

It was a meal of many delicacies; Dalmatian smoked ham and melon, local olives; octopus salad and delicious bread baked in their oven, then local cheese and anchovies with red onion; then grilled scampi and whole calimari, grilled bream and other fish, with local red and white wines. Wow.

Certainly the bill was as impressive as the food, but then again by Brussels or Toronto standards very affordable. We even were given a carry out container for the extra wine, since we were a bit cautious given the drive home.

But né problema, that came in handy since we ended up sitting up for another couple of hours with Milé and Sandra chatting after the kids collapsed into bed. I think we will have to make another visit to Žiža, maybe by taxi, this time to have lamb and other meat specialities, later in the week. Plus Duncan is invited to play 'foot' with the owner's grandson... We learned quite a few new words. Interestingly the word for good in Serbian/Croatian is 'Dobro'. I knew I liked this country...
