Last day in Postira

11h15. Well, today is our last day here, and to be honest it's a bit of a washout so far. Nice in the early morning but already we've had thunderstorms and lots of rain, so I'm waiting for a break in the weather to walk into town, take beer bottles back, etc., post this blog and make a hotel reservation in Split for tomorrow.

Duncan is next door playing with Bennie, and Malcolm is listening to his ipod while Maggie bustles around folding clothes and tidying things. I'm going to go do the same in a moment.

Tomorrow morning we are going into Supetar to catch the ferry to Split, and might get in some beach time, along with a visit to the palace of Diocletian. One fact I discovered about this gorgeous creamy white Brač stone: it's been exported all over the world for use in beautiful buildings, including the "White House" in Washington. How about that? I'll include a photo of some of the stuff, so you can see for yourself...

Ok, now it's 23h43 and we're heading to bed. What was intended to be a quick hello turned into an extended and involved conversation with Dragan and Nada about a great many things, that lasted several hours. What a wonderful end to our stay here on Brač! We've spent the time discussing many topics including our respective family histories, careers, where and when we met, etc., and also planning for our next trip, which we have been advised MUST include Novisad and Belgrade, Prague, Budapest and Istanbul. My goodness, it's a big world out there, and lots to see.
